Robert & Tulisa Billingslea

I put my faith in Christ at First Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas, when I was eight years old.  By the time I reached high school, life was about my desires. I found fulfillment in moral and immoral ways which regularly left an aftertaste of emptiness. In the midst of my rebellion God began to draw me from my self-imposed darkness to a place of devotion.  The process began with my reluctant participation in a church choir tour. I went as a favor to my parents yet on that tour God graciously showed me two things. First, I began to realize His unconditional love that surpassed anything the world had ever given me. Second, I began to realize God could use me in the lives of other people. In His love, I found myself drinking from a fountain that quenched the dryness in my heart. In His service, there was no shame or darkness, no bad aftertaste.

On December 20, 1986, God graciously gave me the treasure of a loving wife. Our courtship and twenty-five  years of marriage are a testimony of God’s mercy and grace. I am blessed beyond measure to be married to my best friend, a woman deeply in love with the Lord.  My wife Tulisa is an artist by trade and has a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from the University of North Texas.  Our daughter Lauren is a graduate of Texas A&M and married Carson Talley, a naval officer, last year. She now lives in Virginia. Our son George attends Llano High School.

Aimed at God’s glory, I endeavor to cultivate a body of believers passionate to proclaim the gospel of Christ and to fulfill the commission of Christ by means of abiding in Christ. I envision a church of growing believers well known in their neighborhood and workplace for their kindness and love.
